100k Challenge

St Albans section are organising not one, but two 100k rides this summer – that’s 100 kilometres or 62 miles, give or take – each to be ridden at a leisurely pace on lovely country lanes.

The first event is the Hilly 100 on 29th July 2008.  This follows a fairly lumpy circular route ridden in either direction with whomever you chose at whatever pace you prefer and starting whenever you like.  There is no time limit.  The route goes through lots of places and you are encouraged to start (and hence finish) from anywhere on the route that suits you best.

The second event is the Audax Taster on 11th September 2008.  This somewhat flatter ride is based on the popular “Emitremmus” Audax event.  It starts and ends in Stevenage and incorporates a return trip to Saffron Walden almost exclusively on country lanes.  The event will be run on authentic Audax lines so as to provide a good opportunity to experience this style of riding – the maximum time allowed is a fairly leisurely 8 hours.

The associated entry fees provide full route sheets and joining instructions etc. You may enter either event on its own by clicking on Hilly 100 entry or Audax Taster entry as approprate.  Alternatively, and as an incentive to ride both events, you may save yourself £1 by signing up for BOTH events at the same time using this form.
